Our Mission: Helping Doulas—and Their Families—Thrive
Our mission is simple: help doulas thrive—so their families and communities can too. Created by doulas, for doulas this initiative is shaped by a Co-Designer Committee of 10 experienced doulas—community leaders and industry experts—who ensure we address the real challenges doulas face.
We are deeply grateful to the Burke Foundation and The Henry & Marilyn Taub Foundation for their support in bringing this initiative to life. Civitas Strategies leads this effort, working alongside these foundations to help doulas gain the training, recognition, and financial security needed to serve both their clients and their own families.
About The Collaborators
The Co-Designer Committee for the Advancing Doula Business Sustainability Initiative is made up of 10 experienced doulas from across New Jersey who are community leaders and industry experts. This diverse group plays a crucial role in ensuring the initiative addresses the real challenges doulas face in their businesses. Through their invaluable perspectives and expertise, the committee helps guide the development of resources and strategies that support doulas in building sustainable practices
The Burke Foundation was established by the late Jim E. Burke, former CEO of Johnson & Johnson.
We honor his strong commitment to mothers and babies by partnering with nonprofits and communities to identify, evaluate, and help scale programs and policies that foster the healthy development of children and families in the earliest years and build a cycle of opportunity across generations so all New Jersey families can thrive.
